Since signing on as a spokeswoman for Weight Watchers, the Academy and Grammy Award-winning Hudson has dropped a significant amount of weight. Though she was contractually restricted from revealing her full weight loss in pounds, the singer did tell Oprah in early 2011 that she had transitioned from a size 16 to a size 6.

It fell to Phillips, also an Oscar-nominated (Walk the Line) and BAFTA-nominated (A Single Man) costume designer to tackle the daunting task of recapturing the couple's signature styles and elaborate jewelry. Phillips wanted to pay homage to the Simpson's personal relationships with couture houses -- Dior and Vionnet -- as well as jewelers -- Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. And adding another eerie layer of personal connection, it was Madonna's celebrity and personal relationships with these same couture and jewelry houses that enabled Phillips to have some of Simpson's gowns and jewelry recreated for this independent film.

So is this a makeup movie? Does this set the ship back on course? The answer comes June 3.

Hollie Cavanagh: The big-voiced hopeful and lover of Celine Dion ballads took a welcome detour from the adult-contemporary path with a rendition of Underwood's "Jesus, Take The Wheel," one of the ex-Idol winner's best country-pop songs. While Jackson dubbed Cavanagh's take as "pitchy," and Tyler disliked the song choice, Lopez thought she genuinely connected with the material. (It's all Nicks' mentoring: in rehearsal, she advised Cavanagh to tap into her emotion and life experience, referencing her beloved mother's recent death in a bittersweet moment. "My problem is my mom's gone. That's my problem," she confessed.")

As for the album she's planning to record, Crow says she wants her music to be "spunky and there's definitely gonna be some high notes in there. And it's just gonna be me."

Phillips performed the Genesis hit "That's All," accompanied by his brother, Ben, on guitar, earning raves from the judges' panel (per usual). Maybe it's the Idol Kool-Aid, which becomes more potent each week as we gain familiarity with the season-11 finalists, but gravelly-voiced, shifty-eyed Phillips is growing on us, not to mention looking spiffier as the show advances toward the May finale. And speaking of that two-night televised extravaganza, it does not seem too far-fetched to picture Phillips competing alongside frontrunner Sanchez as the last two standing. (You know Stevie's going to watch.)

Interestingly, his designs were very contemporary, very clean -- chemise dresses, military coats and jackets, sailor themes. They look much like current styles by Jil Sander, Burberry, Vuitton and Gucci and, without a doubt, influenced the designers of those lines.

While that 36-track Arista Records album offers most of her best-known ballads, it substituted remixes of her uptempo singles instead of the well-known original versions. Davis, the big honoree of the evening, wore a black strapless MaxMara knee-length dress, but the dress unfortunately did not fit her. Her bust was popping out of the strapless top, which was relatively inappropriate for the evening, which was all about power and the place Davis has attained in her career. She even tugged at her top, trying to pull it up, when she took the stage. But then again, Davis attended one of the awards season events in an impossibly low cut gown - so she's clearly trying to give somebody - producers? - a message.

Every year, Italian luxury brand MaxMara gives an award at the Women in Film Crystal and Lucy Awards for its "Face of the Future" -- Maria Bello, Emily Blunt, Ginnifer Goodwin and Katie Holmes have all been recipients of it. This year, the Face of the Future winner is Hugo's Chloe Grace Moretz, and the night before the WIF Crystal and Lucy awards -- on June 11 MaxMara threw a cocktail party in her honor at the Sunset Tower Hotel.

Stevie Nicks guided contestants alongside Jimmy Iovine, with whom she collaborated during her Fleetwood heyday.
